It is our pleasure to invite you to join us at the 31st Annual HR Florida 2009, our 31st Annual HR Florida State Conference & Expo, hosted by the HR Florida State Council, the state affiliate for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM.) Our event attracts over 1,500 human resources professionals throughout Florida representing virtually every industry and companies from small business to large industrial centers.

This year’s event will be held at the Rosen Shingle Creek located in the heart of Central Florida. This modern hotel leaves no stone unturned in providing guests comfort and the ultimate in business convenience.

OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

 

 

Edward James Olmos

Known as the "Olivier of the Latino world," Edward James Olmos is an individual flowing with talent and creativity. The multi-talented actor, producer, director, and community activist was born and raised in East Los Angeles.

While busy producing, directing and acting, Olmos also makes time to participate in many humanitarian efforts. He is a US Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, and a national spokesperson for organizations such as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. He has worked with David Rockefeller of the Rockefeller Foundation, and serves on the boards of many groups and organizations.

He is also the executive director of the Lives In Hazard Educational Project, a national gang prevention program funded by the US Dept. of Justice. He speaks at an average of 150 institutions each year. He also played an instrumental role in the cleanup efforts after the LA riots, the 1993 Los Angeles earthquake, and Hurricane Andrew in Florida.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Christine Dumas

As a lifestyle, consumer health, and fitness reporter and author, Christine’s stories are featured regularly on: NBC, Weekend Live on Fox News Channel, the Sirius Stars Network, Oprah and The View.

One of Christine’s books, Special Treatment, was featured in the January 2005 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, as one of the must-have health books of the year. Recently, she has been chosen as the national spokesperson for Kellogg’s 2008 Healthy Beginnings campaign. Throughout her career, she has been selected as a keynote speaker, a national spokesperson, a strategic planning consultant and a member of senior faculty for several national organizations.

Christine has spent a decade reporting on trends in lifestyle, fitness, sports and health, giving her a leading-edge perspective that is sought-after by Fortune 500 corporations, leading associations, and group forums. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from UCLA.

 

 

 

 

The Honorable Alexis M. Herman

Born in Mobile, Alabama, she began her career working for Catholic Charities helping young out-of-school men and women find work in the Pascagoula, Mississippi shipyard. At the age of twenty-nine, President Jimmy Carter’s appointment made her the youngest director of the Women’s Bureau in the history of the Labor Department. And on May 1, 1997, Alexis M. Herman was sworn in as America’s 23rd Secretary of Labor and the first African American ever to lead the United States Department of Labor. She also served as a valued member of the National Economic Council.

Currently, Ms. Herman serves as chair and chief executive officer of New Ventures, LLC and is the Co-Chair on the Democratic National Committee’s Rules and Bylaws Committee. She has continued to lend her expertise and talent to a vast array of corporate enterprises and nonprofit organizations.

Her nonprofit work includes the National Urban League and the National Epilepsy Foundation. Active in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Herman now serves as Co-Chair of the Bush Clinton Katrina Fund.
